28/06/2025 Priory from Rauzet to Combiners (16)
Programme Sthe steps of Mary to ... Rauzet or Rozet? The oldest known graphic (1289) is Rauzet. Rozet is the current graphic. Let's say the priory of Rauzet in the village of Rozet, Combiers commune. This old one presents the typical architecture of the order of Grandmont, the limousine eremitic order characterized by an austere rule and founded at the end of the 11th century by Etienne de Muret. The light entered through a single window to the east and exited through three windows to the west, without any side window to disturb the prayer of the contemplative monks. The order reached its peak in the 13th century and disappeared before the French Revolution. Rauzet's was attached to the Abbey of Grandmont (Haute-Vienne), of which nothing remains. Ranked a historic monument in 1992 as it fell into ruins, it is experiencing a long but patient renovation thanks to the ASEGR (Association for the Protection of the Grandmontaine Church of Rauzet founded in 1986). After a large clean-up and a period of excavations, the reconstruction of its vault in the cul-de-four collapsed in 1985 and the installation of new stained glass windows (F. and P. Riffaud de l'Atelier Vitrail Saint-Joseph in Ruffec) and new doors came.
Each year, events are organized to animate the place and raise donations. The concert of Rue des Chantres This is part of this process, but it is also part of a big party over a weekend to celebrate the long-awaited end of the restoration of the soil. 20/07/2025 at the Church of Saint-Hilaire-la-Croix (63)
Rue des Chantres gave its program Forbidden Fruits to Terres Vibrantes Festival, a festival whose ambition is simply to « make the landscapes vibrate with the sound of universal music ». Weared by the association The Musicales du Tilleul since 2019, this young dynamic festival offers eclectic and quality programming while valuing the architectural heritage of this land of volcanoes. One of its favourite places is the Romanesque church of Saint-Hilaire-la-Croix, located on the eastern margin of the Combrailles plateau, 37 kilometres north of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme). This church originated from two priories (Saint-Hilaire and Lac-Roy) amalgamated in 1324. Its construction dating from the 12th century, its style is essentially Romanesque, but the gothic style to come, with elements of Burgundian and Saintongese style. The « explosive cocktail of textual and musical transgressions » of the Forbidden Fruits could not be better suited to this dynamic and volcanic environment.
