Sorores
The programme Sorores shows the strong links between the Basilica of Saint-Denis and Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, the little sister of the Basilica; It contains pieces from manuscripts of the Abbey of Saint-Denis and others from Paris, some of which celebrate Saint Denis, the first bishop of Paris, or Saint Geneviève, patron saint of Paris, but also founder of the original chapel located at the place where the basilica is currently located. In this program will resonate songs of the time of Suger, powerful abbot of Saint-Denis in the 12th century as well as pieces written and improvised in the style of the famous School of Notre Dame which broadcast its polyphonies throughout Europe during the 13th century century.
Stained glass of St. Denis Cathedral Basilica : Sentenced to torture by Sisinnius (first stained glass), Saint Denis first suffered the flogging, then the torture of the grill, and finally the takeoff (second vitrain). The last window describes the cephalophoria of the decapitated saint who takes his head in his hands and goes on to the place where he wishes to be buried: Saint-Denis.
